Disappearing Dialogues, 2017

Art Ichol’s Disappearing Dialogues was a unique multi-media, interactive exhibition, curated by Nobina Gupta. Madhya Pradesh Tourism and Arts Ananda Trust supported the project. Featured a diverse range of paintings, videos, wood and iron products, textiles and garments to films, book art, photography, and furnishings – all created as a collaboration between local communities of Madhya Pradesh and 14 Indian and international artists – the event hopes to bring the focus back on the lost traditions and cultural practices of the area. The project was undertaken in areas of Ichol, Maihar and its periphery, Satna, Rewa, Panna, Madhai, Umaria, Ucchera, Janwaar, Bharhut, Sukhana, Khajuraho and Govindgarh. Working closely with the curator and Art Ichol, the publication’s design strives to balance the seriousness of purpose and the appeal to thinking, engaged readership and between content and design.
